From back when a minor league baseball contract meant either hopes for a big league call-up or a paycheck following a Major League career, these (8) programs include stadium-issued guides/scorecards from: (3) Baltimore Orioles (1947, 1949, 1951); Montreal Royals (1934); Newark Bears (1944); Rochester Red Wings (1953); Amateur All-Star Series (1947); and Midget World Series (1953). More on our website.

1947 Baltimore Orioles: issued at Memorial Stadium (then known as “Baltimore Stadium”), this 76-page program was issued for an “Interfaith Charity Game” between the Orioles and Syracuse Chiefs; program is minimally (VG-EX) with covers/pages intact, unmarked scoring grids and minor creases.
1949 Baltimore Orioles Scorecard: issued at Memorial Stadium (referred to as “Babe Ruth Stadium” at the time, in memory of the deceased Baltimore native) for an exhibition between the International League’s Orioles and National League’s Boston Braves, the thick stock two-page scorecard features scoring grids marked in pencil; presents (VG) with a horizontal compacting fold.
1951 Baltimore Orioles Program: issued at Memorial Stadium for the June 12 Class AAA International League game between the Orioles and Springfield Cubs, the 16-page guide features unmarked scoring grids and presents (EX-MT) with a hint of a vertical fold.

1934 Montreal Royals Program: issued at Delorimier Stadium for a Class AA International League game between the Royals and Baltimore Orioles, the thick stock eight-page guide features scoring grids marked in pencil and presents (EX).

1944 Newark Bears Scorecard: issued at Ruppert Stadium for a Class AAA International League playoff game between the Bears and Baltimore Orioles, the thick stock, eight-page cardboard souvenir features unmarked scoring grids and is affected by separated pages and significant spine separation.

1953 Rochester Red Wings Program: issued at Red Wing Stadium for a Class AAA International League “Little World Series” game between the Red Wings and Baltimore Orioles, the eight-page guide features scoring grids with penciled starting lineups. Of note is that the 1953 Red Wings won 19 straight before losing to the Orioles on September 12. The Red Wings did outlast the Orioles in a seven-game championship series, winning the finale at home, 8-1. This program may very well hail from that game, which was Baltimore’s last-ever game as a minor league team. The program presents (VG-EX) with a vertical compacting fold preventing even higher assessment.

1947 Amateur All-Star Series Program: issued at Baltimore’s Memorial Stadium for a round-robin series held on August 8, 9 and 10, the 20-page guide feature photos and text detailing the combatants (American All-Stars, Canadian All-Stars and Baltimore All-Stars). There are two sets of unmarked scoring grids. The program presents (VG), though there is a small section clipped from one of the player profile pages.

1953 Midget World Series Program: issued at Maryland’s Penwood Park on September 12 for a Civic Midget League postseason twinbill that included games between the Watersedge All-Stars/Dundalk YMCA All-Stars and the Dundalk Lions/Sparrows Point, the 16-page guide features unmarked scoring grids and presents (EX).
