Graded 45 VG+ 3.5 by SGC. Exceedingly scarce and important 1931 Doble Aguila #197 Concordia vs. York action pose featuring Cuban great and 1977 Hall of Fame inductee, Martin Dihigo. Produced and released in Venezuela by tobacco manufacturer E. Quintana of Caracas, the sports themed tobacco series features some of the most important action poses of the all-around great. Dihigo is pictured horizontally on this pint-sized import as he follows through on a lethal swing. During this period, Dihigo starred for the Hilldale Giants of Pennsylvania and frequently toured throughout Latin America. The clear black-and-white image is framed by even corner wear, relatively accurate centering and an attractive Spanish text advertising back. Resides as the sole representative at the grading level with only one better of the four total specimens assessed by the third-party service. Due to institutionalized racism and lack of distribution, period Negro League Hall of Fame collectibles are extremely challenging to locate in any condition and astute hobbyists are taking notice and bidding accordingly.
