A major first hits the block, with this 5/68 Marvel Comics Iron Man #1 issue. After five years of sharing space with Captain America and others in Tales of Suspense, and as a founding member of the mega-popular Avengers, Tony Stark/Iron Man graduated to his own solo title, with this important late Silver Age comic book. This major key has just returned from CGC with a grade of (9.4), and a "White Pages" notation. CGC's Census shows this highly pleasing example to be "1/186" at the 9.4 level, with just "136" higher, out a vast population of "7,383" in Universal Grade holders, putting in the top 5% of all graded CGC examples. Also printed on the label is "Archie Gooodwin story, Gene Colan and Johnny Craig art, Gene Colan cover, Story continued from Iron Man and Sub-Mariner #1, Origin of Iron Man retold". The Iron Man and Sub-Mariner issue is a one-shot, that set the table for the 1968 first solo titles of the two characters.
